I feel I have comment on how nice it was to come across your web site. I attended St Mary's School and often visited St Mary's Church and Sunday School. Most of my Family were married there, Baptisted there, Grandmother was in The Choir and at one stage my Sister was the Rose Queen. I have not been to the church in about 10 Years - I am now going to make an effort to visit before the end of this year. The Web site reminded me just how nice it is.

My daughter Rebecca was christened at St. Mary's - this was in 1977 when we were visiting our family in the area. Rev. Booth gave us a warm welcome and certainly made the occasion a memorable one.

I have just found your website whilst browsing.
We did live on Moss Lane from 1980 until 1988, and had all four of our children christened at St Mary's, remembered with fondness.
We now live in Colwyn Bay, North Wales.
Carry on the good work.

I attended the 75th anniversary celebration of St Mary's. This was my first visit to a service at the church and I attended to get information for an article I have now completed about this special day.
I was welcomed by all, especially Jonathan and various 'regulars' who had plenty to say about the church as well as the wonderful community we live in.
I was grateful to be part of this occasion and would like to thank everyone for making me most welcome.
I hope my article has done Saint Mary's justice.
Article can be viewed on our web site

Barbara Dignan (nee Darnton) |
It is almost 40 years since I left Cadishead, on my marriage in August 1964, but St Mary’s played a large part in my youth. My grandmother was Elizabeth Darnton, who died in August 1963 and will be fondly remembered by some of the older parishioners, (Gladys Dawes and Mary Wright come to mind). She was the enrolling member for the Mothers’ Union for many years, my great uncle Robert Darnton, was a churchwarden and both my sister, Kathleen and myself were regular attenders. We attended the Sunday School, both as scholars and teachers, the youth club where I was secretary for a while and of course were both confirmed and married from St Mary’s. Of course we “walked” each Trinity Sunday in our best clothes or as “Anniversary Girls”. Our vicar at the time was Mr Weaver. My mother, Mabel Darnton, now 87, has been a member of St Mary’s for over 60 years but is now too frail to attend services. Her great friend, Flo Wickman, however, still attends regularly.

I well remember the church socials, Christmas and summer fairs and harvest suppers I was taken to by grandma Darnton when I was a small girl and they formed a large part of our social life.

Good luck with your ministry.
